Sheridan Village
Enter the Purity Cave. There is literally nothing in this cave so exit the cave into the Purifty Forest area. Follow the path to talk to the elder, who will tell you to bring Shadow Pokemon who are ready to open their hearts here to purify, and to come at any time. During the talk however, Aelita will remind you that your Snag machine is broken :(.
The elder will suggest you find Saki, who is a gym leader on the other half of Aevium, who is good with technology to fix it for you. To get there though, you need to go through Goldenleaf town, which has a bad reputation or something. Aelita will rush off.
You'll arrive back in Sheridan Village, where Aelita will tell you that you've been missing....for a week!. There's some sentimental crap here, and then Aelita will say she's been doing research on Shadow Pokemon, and the Elder of the VIllage will know What's up. Speak to the Eldest, who will give you a little talk on Shadow Pokemon, and give you a Time Flute.
She'll state that this is only the beginning of the process, and that you need to do more and potter off. Follow her to the left side of the Pokemon Centre. She'll mutter "Ager subcinctus" and make the tree guarding the cave disappear. The cave is the purify Cave, which leads to the Purification Shrine.Enter the Purity Cave. There are also wild Pokemon here ( + more areas to explore after you get Cut/Rock Climb/Surf):
As you try to leave, a cutscene will happen and Keta's statue will appear on top of the podium. A huge 1/5 sign will appear, signifying that you have completed 1/5 of the game (apparently). Make your way back up to Sheridan Village, and access Route 3 via the gate next to the Pokemon Centre.
Route 3
As soon as you step outside the gate, Amaria (from the beginning, remember?) will greet you and check on your progress as a trainer. She'll challenge you to a battle as per usual
- Available Pokemon
- Grass - Volbeat, Paras, Bellsprout, Oddish
- Fish - Goldeen
Anyway, head back out to Sheridan Village, where you'll be stopped by Ghost Keta, who will tell you to meet him at Amethyst Grotto.
Make your way back down to Amethyst Grotto, where Ghost Keta will thank you for your work on Caratos Mountain, and challenge you to a battle so you can get the Gym Badge.
- Revenant Keta: Lv 28 Primeape, Lv 28 Hitmontop, Lv 29 Pangoro, Lv 29 Scrafty, Lv 29 Hawlucha, Lv 30 Sawk

- Scout Amaria: Lv 31 Staryu, Lv 31 Snorunt, Lv 33 Ampharos, Lv 34 Braixen
After the battle, she'll give you HM01 CUT, which will be useful to access things previously, and in future gameplay. She'll scamper off afterwards.
Route 3 is divided into 2 paths: the left path, which has tall grass and a lot of wild Pokemon, or the right path, which has zero tall grass but a few Pokemon Trainers. Pick whichever one you fancy, but I'll be going down the right path.
Before we do this though, there's a little forest section on the left top section of the map, which we shall explore now.
Corta Forest
(NB: You won't be able to complete the story line for Corta Forest until after you have surf, but you can at least start the quest)
You won't be able to go anywhere without a Pokemon with Cut. Cut down the trees and proceed towards the right. As always, there is tall grass and wild Pokemon.
There are also some trainers:
Anyway, this place is pretty self explanatory, just keep following the path upwards. Making sure you pick up the items whilst you go:
At the end of the path, you'll notice a Kingdra Statue, and on examination you'll find that one of the wings is missing:
As far as I'm aware, there's nothing else you can do at this point so wrap things up, and let's proceed back down Route 3.
Route 3 - Right Path
You'll encounter a patch of grass first, which as always, contains wild Pokemon.
Just as you think the coast is clear, Rorrim B. ambushes you with a rapey vibe. He'll challenge you to a battle:
After the battle he'll say some stuff and walk off. Weird. In the next section there is a clearing full of people. This lady thinks it's so good here she'll give you great balls.
After this you'll arrive at the common area between the Right and the Left Path, which is a golden colour. I'll go back now and cover the left path.
Route 3 - Left Path
If you go down from the path of the Corta Forest entrance, you'll run into a trainer immediately
You'll arrive at the common clearing where you'll find Rorrim B. There's also a battle here:
Cut down the tree and you'll arrive at a set of houses in the middle of the route.....strange right? All the doors are locked anyway, so keep moving. Follow the path on the right if you want to continue the Fennekin chase:
Pick up this Super Potion as you continue down the route.
Cut down the trees and you'll be able to access the Pokemon Centre. Nurse Joy is pretty lonely down here:
There's a little clearing by the Pokemon Centre that seems to be mapped out too nicely to just be a decorative piece. I hope they use this place later on.....Anyway, continue down the map and you'll arrive at the common path.
Route 3 - Common Path
You'll notice everything in this part of the map is gold, and all the people here will disrespect you to the max.
Wild Pokemon here are the same as Route 3 + Murkrow I think? Anyway, pick up this hidden Dusk Stone
Kristola Palace
Venam enters with a certain grace that a lady might enter with. She'll immediately get captured by some maids (so much for defending herself) and get taken away. The dude will introduce himself as Indriad, who will demand a "trial by combat" kind of thing where you have to defeat his daughter in battle to get Venam back.
Marianette's room is on the right side of the hall up the stairs. Remember Marianette from the opening Sequence of the game? Of course you don't. Anyway, talk to her and she'll understand the situation and accept your request to battle her. (NB: there are some serious child abuse overtones in this dialogue....)
Enter into the next room. Up the right staircase you'll find a rare candy
Up the left stair case you'll find a Gothitelle. Talk to it and it will run away (NB: START THIS QUEST NOW SINCE YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO COMPLETE IT AFTER YOU DEFEAT MARIANETTE)
If you're like me and can't be effed to figure it out, here are some pre-done solutions:
Indriad will tell you to meet him in the first room. Before he can get to you though, Marianette tells you to runaway, because her Father has something drastic planned for you..... You are transported outside.
Venam's two friends will ask you whats going on, and won't believe you when you tell them. They'll go into the Palace and come out saying it just looks like a storage room. You and Venam go inside annnnnnnnnnd..... it is just a storage room. You will finally be able to tell Venam that Ren is being an asshole again, and she'll agree to go to Route 3 to help you.Pick up TM 42 Facade whilst you are in here.
Before you leave, there's a Muk at the top of the map that will interact with you for the price of a GourmetTreat.
Route 3
Meet Venam at the Gate, and she'll make her Grimer use acid to destroy the barrier.
She'll then ask you why you are going to Goldenwood town, and will promptly lose her cool when you mention Saki's name.
Girls, am I right? :P Anyway, proceed through the gate and enter Goldenwood Town.
(NB: You won't be able to complete the story line for Corta Forest until after you have surf, but you can at least start the quest)
You won't be able to go anywhere without a Pokemon with Cut. Cut down the trees and proceed towards the right. As always, there is tall grass and wild Pokemon.

You'll encounter a patch of grass first, which as always, contains wild Pokemon.
- Available Pokemon
- Grass: Venipede, Doduo, Pansear, Pidgeotto, Pidgey
- Fish: Finneon
- Headbutt:
You'll get to a common clearing area, and dialogue will start. A man will lavish hair will start speaking in nonsensical terms. This man turns out to be Rorrim B. (Mirror B from Pokemon Colosseum anyone?). He'll scamper off after his rant.
Follow the path down and fight the trainer staring intently at the pot in front of her:
- Battle Girl Elizabeth: Lv 30 Cinccino
Pick up this not so hidden Timer Ball:
There's another trainer for you to battle after this:
- Prima Donna Marissa: Lv 30 Beautifly, Lv 30 Zebstrika, Lv 31 Alomomola
Just as you think the coast is clear, Rorrim B. ambushes you with a rapey vibe. He'll challenge you to a battle:
- Disco guy Rorrim B.: Lv 31 Yanmega, Lv 34 Wormadam, Lv 33 Vivillon (shadow), Lv 33 Accelgor
- Remember your Snag Machine is broken so no point trying to snag this at this stage

You'll find Ren at the gates being super suss. He'll try and cover this up by challenging you to a battle:
- Pokemon Trainer Ren: Lv 34 Sableye, Lv 35 Scraggy, Lv 36 Frogadier, Lv 35 Houndour, Lv 35 Murkrow
- Shoutouts to this Sableye, who will Prankster Confuse Ray/ThunderWave until you ragequit
After the battle he'll keep acting super uss as if he did something to this city. He'll "act like a pal" and somehow construct a barrier to the gate in 0.5 seconds that can't be broken by anything except for acid (how convenient).
He'll let slip that maybe Acid could destroy the barrier and scamper off. Head all the way back to the gate are between Route 3 and Sheridan Village to be stopped by this guy, who will notice that you walk everywhere and offer you a ride to the Major towns free of charge.
You'll find your new best friend hanging around at the bottom of Sheridan Village. Talk to him and go back to Gearen City.
Gearen City
Head to the Gym and talk to the Gym dude out the front. He'll let you know that Venam is down in the Sewers because they discovered a new area.
Head down there now, and keep following the path until you come to the new clearing and enter it.
Deep Sewers
There's a new set of wild Pokemon here:
- Available Pokemon
- Grass: Mightyena, Swoobat, Trubbish, Poochyena, Arbok
Keep following the path down and you'll meet Venama nd her two lackies, who are examining a new building that somehow was inside the Sewer.
They begin a discussion and speculate that this is actually Kristola Palace, a palace that was owned by wealthy people, etc. She'll trash talk her two helpers, and say only her and you should go inside since you are stronger. Prepare thy angus, and enter the building
Kristola Palace

You can chase Gothita down throughout the Gym, I'll screenshot all her locations here:
Enter into the next room and prepare to be confused by the most ridiculous Gym puzzle ever. Talk to the maid guarding the door and she'll tell you the "Equation":
- A Girl on her way to school saw a shopping mall that held many of her interests.
While on her way to the shopping mall, she noticed a small park which had the most green of grass.
She then visited the park and stayed there for five minutes.
Then she realized that she forgot her most prized possession, her doll.
As she rushed home, she realized that she had also forgotten her bag at the park.
Once she got home and got her doll, she then ran back to the park only to realize that her bag was gone.
She then travelled to school in the opposite direction, and made it to school late.
After school was done, she ran home in the eastern direction to look for her missing item.
However, as she got to the park it started to rain causing her to run towards the shopping mall.
When she got to the mall, she was do dizzy from running that she began to spin in each direction.
She spun around 4 times and then waddled in the direction of which she stopped spinning all the way home.
By using the checkerboard tiles on the floor, please mock the route in which the girl took that day.
If you're like me and can't be effed to figure it out, here are some pre-done solutions:
- Start on BOTTOM RIGHT then go
left, right, up, down, up, left, right, left, down, up, right, down
There's also this super helpful Video on YouTube by AceGamesTV as well:
Anyway, finish the puzzle and move into the next room, which will look like some sort of library. You'll need to flip a few switches to reveal staircases that will let you continue into the next room (use the red teleport tiles to get from one side of the room to the other). You will have to battle some maids here as well:
- Servant Janya: Lv 31 Chatot, Lv 33 Wobbuffet
- Servant Emilie: Lv 31 Zangoose, Lv 33 Seviper
- Servant Shakira: Lv 31 Simipour, Lv 33 Charmeleon
- Esoteric Marianette: Lv 35 Wigglytuff, Lv 36 Ambipom, Lv 36 Slaking, Lv 35 Swellow, Lv 36 Cinccino, Lv 35 Pyroar
